Action heats up in President's Prize competition

BERTIE Shaw's President's Day is on Saturday August 22 and the highlight of the day will be the final of the Fourball Championship, affectionately known as the President's Prize.

There are 16 pairs remaining in the competition after the completion of the third round. The results were as follows:

Declan Barry and Seamus Rooney beat Michael and Sean McGreevey 2 and 1.; Trevor Woods and Matthew Mallon beat Brendan McConville and Stuart Hunter 2 up.; Shane McCrory and Brian Ward beat Colm and Kieran McGreevey 2 and 1; Bobby Geddis and Jim Matthews beat Cathal O’Neill and Brendan Matthews at the 19th.; Fergie and Ben Cosgrove w.o. against Kerry McCloskey and G. Shannon.; Roy McAfee and Felix Duffy beat Dennis Lockhart and James Bryson 4 and 3; Jonathan Burns and Ross McCandless beat Jonathan Ward and Kieran Lennon; Hugo Downey and Luke Woods beat Sherwin Curran and Walter Smth at the 19th.; Cathal McNiff and Colin Wilton beat Paddy and William Malcolmson 8 and 6; Timothy Beattie and Shane Crossan beat Conor Mulholland and Gareth McGregor 2 and 1; Declan Dooher and Paul Simpson beat Ronnie Halliday and David Barker 3 and 1; Rory Madeley and Mark Carson beat Tommy and James Gillespie 4 and 3; Damian Weir and Paul Magee beat Paul McCullough and Nigel Bryson 1 up; Danny O’Boyle and Paul Faulkner beat Colin Smylie and Graeme Woodcock at the 20th hole; PJ Johnstone and Jeffrey Brown beat Tom Mulholland and Terry Malcolmson 5 and 4; Keith Steenson and Gary McCartney beat Eugene Weir and Conor Campbell 3 and 2.
