THURSDAY May 8 saw the latest in the summer season of shoots at Rathfriland.
Weather conditions were fantastic with bright sunshine and cloudless skies bringing out the local shooters in force.

The good run of shoots at Rathfriland also showed no sign of stopping and another fantastic total of 22 lines were shot. Through
these lines 11 shooters managed to hit the 20/60 score.

Shoot off one was made up of Enoch McCauley, A Graham, Dean Smyth, Davy Megaw and Hugh Forsythe. From this line it was McCauley who came out on top, shooting another 20/60.

Shoot off two consisted of Neville Ferguson, Guy Carlisle and Morris Poland.

The final shoot off of the night was made up of Trevor McGibbon, Noel Carson and Trevor Foot. From this line it was Belfast man McGibbon who matched the 20/60 score of Enoch McCauley to force a head-to-head between the big-hitters.

The two men went at it with prize money and all-important bragging rights up for grabs.

Their shoot off was a tense affair though both men pulled through, shooting yet another 20/60 and forcing yet another shoot off.

However this was sudden death and although neither shooter looked like missing a few targets from the end of the line it was Trevor McGibbon whose concentration slipped, handing victory to McCauley.

Final results are as follows: 1st, Enoch McCauley; 2nd, Trevor McGibbon; 3rd= Neville Ferguson and Morris Poland.

Shooting resumes at Rathfriland on Thursday May 15, commencing at 5pm sharp. As always, all shooters will be made welcome.
