DROMORE Amateurs Ladies secured their place in the second round of the IFA cup with a 3-0 win over Rosglass at Downpatrick.

Rosglass made a promising start with plenty of attacks in the opening minutes which paid off as the
y won a corner but the Dromore defence remained firm and where able to clear the attacking ball.

Dromore were slow to get out of the blocks but with a few words of encouragement from the coaching staff they soon pulled up their socks and started to dominate possession, creating many attacks which led to many promising chances that were narrowly missed.

Kerry Taggart set up the first goal when she squared ball up for Jill Bruce who but the ball in the back of the net. The Rosglass keeper was unlucky to prevent the goal as the ball took an awkward bounce going in.

Dromore continued to win the ball with Dee Lindsay and Fiona Martin marking tight to prevent any breaks and Lauren Gibson winning tackles then laying balls on for the Dromore strikers.

The second half started and Dromore were stuck in from the whistle, automatically putting pressure on the opposition. Any attacks that Rossglass made were shattered because they could not break through the Dromore lines.

The Dromore midfield and defence won tackles and sent the strikers on the attack, which led to Dromore’s second goal of the night.

Kerry Taggart won the ball in the middle of the park, went on to beat thre players and then did what she does best, beating the keeper to score.

AGGRESSIVE

The Dromore side continued to dominate the second half and always looked the better team even though the Rosglass was a fit and aggressive team, they where no match for the experienced Dromore side.

Not long after the second goal the referee waved away Dromore appeals for a penalty when Kerry Taggart was brought down in the box.

However Dromore made Rosglass pay by adding a third goal to the the scoreline. A free kick taken near the halfway line by captain Tracy Orr was chipped over the Rosglass defence, allowing Kerry to run on to it and smash a volley pass the keeper.

Rosglass started to sharpen up towards the end of the game, attacking from all angles. They won a free kick on the edge of box which was chipped over the Dromore defence but Mary McCourt, Dromore’s new defender, came to the rescue not only to stop the attack but to start a Dromore one as she made plenty of ground up wing.

Rossglass still remained determine to beat the Dromore keeper and kept the pressure on where once again they won a free kick on the edge of the box.

This time the Rossglasss striker was going to the test the Dromore keeper. A wonderful taken free kick was match by a more even superb save as the keeper got a hand to it to knock it over the crossbar and out for a corner.

Manager Roger McCartan was happy with the result and clean sheet but wants Dromore to start sharper in their future matches.
