AFTER their amazing win over Concra Wood in round one, the Banbridge Sam Rutherford Cup team went into their second round match against Kilkeel in high spirits.
Keith Steenson and Scott McCandless beat P. Crilly and S. McVerry three up.
Brian Mulholland and Peter Hillen were too sharp for P.Higgens and L Edgar. They always had the upper hand and finally won by four holes up.
Jim Matthews and Ross McCandless combined beaurifully and they beat B. Evans and A. McAlinden four up.
That put Banbridge 11 holes up after three of the four games.
Kilkeel got something out of the match when J. Boyd and T. Weir beat Seamus Rooney and PJ Johnstone by one hole up.
A lead of 10 holes is a great position after the first leg. A good steady performance in the second leg should do the trick for Tom Mulholland’s team.
