DROMORE Amateurs are on the lookout for a new manager after the shock resignation of boss Pete Batey.
Batey leaves his first job in management midway through his third season with the Amateurs, having taken over at Ferris Park in May 2007.
The Amateurs have managed just one win this season in all competitions against Queens II, leaving them one plac
e off the foot of the Amateur League Division 2A table.
The former midfielder won the Irish League as a player with Glentoran and cut his teeth in coaching when he was assistant manager during Jimmy Brown's ill-fated spell in charge of Glenavon four seasons ago but despite an impressive finish to last season it was unable to continue into this term.
"I'm sorry he is away. He tried his hardest with the Amateurs but the response from the players just wasn't forthcoming," said Amateurs Chairman Malcolm Russell.
"I can understand why he's decided to leave and I can't argue with him."
The club are now welcoming applications for the position of manager and anyone interested should contact club Secretary Paul Magill on 07801534227.
Mr Russell said he hoped the new manager would be able to change the fortunes of the floundering club.
"Hopefully we will get someone in who will get our players playing and who would have the contacts to bring in a few players," he said.
SHAKEN UP
"Things need shaken up and the new manager will have to oversee that transition."
A statement from the club read, "The players and officials associated with Dromore Amateurs FC would like to take this opportunity to thank Pete Batey for the time and commitment he put into the club over the past couple of seasons and it is with sad regret that the club received his resignation last week.
"Dromore Amateurs Football Club have lost not only a very good coach but a very infectious character around the club and DAFC would like to wish him all the best in his next venture."
