Youth group plans walk

A group of young people with various disabilities are planning a sponsored walk to raise funds for local charities which they are personally interested in; Store House Community Food Bank and MacMillan Cancer Support. The group who are part of The Banbridge and District Disability Youth Forum will climb Slievenaslat in Castlewellan which is 272 metres above sea level, and cover a distance of 2.7 miles on Saturday 26th September 2015. This may not seem a challenge for most young people their age, but for these young adults it will be! Most of the group have various disabilities such as autism, sensory impairment and learning disabilities. As a result, the majority need help, support and guidance with their everyday lives. However, the group are focused on and very articulate about what they can do instead of what they can't do and are seeking to drive this message home to people in the community. This challenge of climbing Slievenaslat is one way of sharing the message of Ability, and not disability. 'Anybody
