Time to remember the
true meaning of Christmas

Most of us find it a problem in deciding a gift to give to family and friends at Christmas.

We try to give what they would like, or need most. We don’t want them to be disappointed with their presents and think we don’t care.

As I thought of the gift that God gave was carefully chosen Romans chpt 6 v 23.

Scripture makes it absolutely clear “The gift of God is Eternal Life through Jesus Christ our Lord”.

Dear reader many gifts are carefully wrapped up to make them as attractive as possible.

Have you noticed how attractive God made his Gift?

He did not send a mighty angel or a frightening spirit to bring his gift to us.

He sent his own son the Lord Jesus Christ born in a manager at Bethlehem.

We sing, Mary’s boy Child “Jesus Christ” was born on Christmas Day.

One that was born sinless, harmless and undefiled; notice “He was separate from sinners.”

We read in Luke chpt 2 v 16 – For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour which is Christ the Lord.

I dare not write of the “Message of Christmas” without being reminded of the Cross of Calvary.

The Lord Jesus Christ died to atone for the Sins of those who believe in Him.

How often have we sung “Born that man no more may die; born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth” and yet failed to realize that these lines refer to those of us belong to this lost world.

We often sing also Jesus, God’s gift from heaven came; bore on the earth reproach and shame, bowed on the cross his holy head, died and God raised him from the dead.

“One mediator” throned above, bear’s witness God is light and love; none but the son sets sinners free, “Come now” he saith “Come unto me”.

I would like to take this opportunity to send all readers, friends and family a very “Happy Christmas”, and a bright and prosperous New Year 2014 DV.
