Mrs Sarah (Sadie) Jane Gilmour

The passing of Mrs Sarah Jane Gilmour took place at Iveagh Private Nursing Home on Thursday 9th June.

Sadie as she was affectionately known was the dearly loved wife of the late Ernest Gilmour. Formerly Miss Sadie Fegan from Legananny Loughbrickland she married Ernest in April 1956 and took up residence in Katesbridge. She worked for a number of years in Dobson’s Grocer Shop, Banbridge. After this she was at home to rear her family of one daughter and three sons.

She joined the congregation of Katesbridge Presbyterian Church and in her later years she joined the P.W.A and was a member of Banbridge Senior Citizens Club.

She is survived by one daughter Mrs Christine Watt (Katesbridge), three sons Nigel Gilmour (Castlevennon), John Gilmour (Banbridge) and Marcus Gilmour (Manchester) and one sister Mrs Mabel Geoghegan (Loughbrickland).

The funeral which was largely attended took place from her home Alexander Park, Katesbridge on Saturday for a service in Katesbridge Presbyterian Church at which her minister Rev. Nigel Kane officiated and gave an inspiring address. Mrs Pearl Clydesdale presided at the organ, accompanied by the choir when the hymns ‘The Lord’s my Shepherd’ and ‘What a Friend we have in Jesus’ were sung.

The interment took place in Rathfriland Reformed Presbyterian Churchyard. Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, for Patients Comforts Iveagh House Nursing Home.

William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
