MLA welcomes £4 million housing investment

Upper Bann MLA Carla Lockhart has welcomed a proposed investment of approximately £4 million which will see 48 Fold Housing properties particularly in the William Street, Lagan Terrace area of Donacloney renovated to a 21st century standard.

The houses will get a complete overhaul, including kitchen, bathroom, and window replacements. It is anticipated that they houses will look like new modern properties when the work is complete.

Speaking after visiting the locality, the Upper Bann MLA said: “I welcome this investment and the undoubted benefit it will have for the residents.

“There will obviously be some displacement and disruption to current living arrangements whilst the works are being carried out however, I will be liaising with Fold to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.

“I have been engaged with Fold already on this redevelopment and will continue to do so to ensure that residents are to at the very centre of the decision making. I have been pushing Fold Housing to ensure that residents are kept well informed and as a result a meeting will be taking place in St Patrick’s Church Hall, Donaghcloney on Thursday July 28 at 2.30pm.”

Local Councillor Mark Baxter added: “I am delighted that the village is getting this investment and I know the residents will be very happy once it is completed. I have been contacted by a number of residents over my years of service concerning ongoing maintenance issues and this most certainly will help with the regeneration of the Donaghcloney area.

“I would encourage residents to attend the meeting arranged by Fold and I will most certainly be ensuring that residents are the focus with regards to this scheme.”
