Chelsy Corbett, 8, decided to get her hair cut for charity to help the children who had lost their hair and so far has raised £664.97 - more than double her original target.

Her mum Michelle explained how chelsy just came home one day from Dromore Central Primary School with the idea in her head.

She said: “She just took the notion one day. We are very proud that she wanted to do this to help other children who need it.

“We set up a Justgiving page and then she had sponsor sheets as well. I’ve just been adding ht emoney we got from those onto the JustGiving page to keep it all together.”

Chelsy’s original target was £300 but after more than doubling it, Michelle said she is delighted.

“She’s over the moon. It costs the Little Princess Trust £350 to make a wig so she has nearly raised enough for them to make two,” Michelle said. “Then the hair she is donating will be enough to make another one.”

Chelsy had grew her hair for all of her life before getting it cut short for the charity.

Michelle said: “She got an inch cut off nearly for her every year she’s been alive. It had been down to her bum and it was so thick and long.

“I had to wash it and brush it for her. We decided it would be better to get it cut now before we go on holidays.”

Chelsy is pleased with her new look after Louise McFaul chopped her locks at Cut N Style in Dromore.

“She loves the shorter hair. She’d been talking about growing it long again to raise more money for charity when she got it cut but I’m not so sure she will want to do that now.”
