Banbridge man devoted to his family

Peter McPartland obit

Peter McPartland obit

Peter McParland died peacefully at his home on Lisnagade Road, Banbridge on May 21.

He was the dearly loved husband of the late Christina, who predeceased him two years ago.

Peter was brought up in the Banbridge area living at Bannview Road until his marriage to Chris. After their marriage he set up home at Cappagh, then Loughbrickland Village and then Banbridge.

As a building contractor his skills were often sought after and he was associated in business with his brother Oliver.

He enjoyed a game of darts and played for The Thoroughfare Inn, but his main interest was centred around his home and family. He was devoted to his daughters, son, grandchildren and great grandchildren and nothing gave him greater pleasure than to have his family around him.

He is survived by his daughters Mrs Maria Quinn (Banbridge), Mrs Charmaine Taaffe (Poyntzpass), Mrs Anne Watters (Laurencetown) and Mrs Bernie Morrow (Tandragee), son Martin (Banbridge), sons-in-law Brian, Michael, Kevin and Jackie, daughter-in-law Angela, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren, brother Oliver and four sisters Mary, Freda, Anna and Una.

To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.

The funeral took place from his home on Lisnagade Road, Banbridge on Friday May 23, for Requiem Mass which was held in St Patrick’s Church, Dromore Street. Canon Liam Stevenson, Father Stephen Crossan and Father Colum Wright celebrated Mass. Music was provided by his daughter Maria.

The burial took place in St Patrick’s Cemetery. Family flowers were placed on the grave.

William Bell and Co had charge of the funeral arrangements.
