This comes following her visit to the Stroke Association weekly meeting which has been relocated to the Health Centre.

Speaking following her visit Cllr Carla Lockhart said: “Getting to know the community groups and charity organisations in the Banbridge area is very rewarding. My visit to the Stroke Association meeting let me see first hand the impact that a stroke can have on the lives of those who were extremely active and played a full roll in society.

“A stroke can cause problems with mobility, and speech and it was wonderful to see what Rachel Hall the Stroke Assocation’s speech therapist was doing with the service users.

“The Health Centre provides an excellent venue for these types of meeting and I would welcome the fact that there is now available space for such meetings.

“I would like to commend Valerie Dale the local co-ordinator in the Southern Trust area for all her efforts to help and assist those who have suffered from strokes, to all the volunteers who give of their time to assist.

“I look forward to helping and continuing to support this group in the weeks and months ahead.”
