The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for 'heavy and locally thundery rain'.
The warning is in effect from 9pm tonight (Saturday, September 3) until 7am on Sunday.
The warning states: "An area of heavy and locally thundery rain will move across southern parts of Northern Ireland on Saturday evening before transferring east across southern counties of Scotland and northern counties of northern England during the early hours of Sunday.
"The worst of the rain should clear from Northern Ireland soon after midnight and from northern England and southeast Scotland on Sunday morning.
"Please be aware of the risk of localised surface water flooding and disruption to transport, especially where heavy rain occurs over urban areas."
