Toilet block closure

AN automated toilet block may be installed in Gilford following the closure of the public toilet block in the village.

This was the suggestion of Councillor John Hanna at a recent council meeting, following news that the block’s closure will mean the only public toilets in the area are in the community centre.

A local resident had previously complained about the opening hours to the centre, and Councillor David Herron said he felt the hours should be reviewed to account for the need for the public toilets.

Earlier this month Mr Hanna suggested an automated toilet may be the way forward, and it was confirmed that this suggestion will be considered at the next meeting of the Environmental Services Committee on Monday.
