Suspected burglars collide with police car

Police officers have escaped injury after a car driven by suspected burglars crashed into their vehicle in Banbridge yesterday (Wednesday) evening.

The incident occurred after a burglary at a house on the Old Newry Road in Banbridge around 5.45pm.

Three men were seen leaving the house in a silver Audi A3 car.

The car collided with the police vehicle before being driven away. The vehicle then collided with another car a short distance away on the Newry Road.

The men in the car ran from the scene. Police searched the area for them, but they could not find them.

None of the police officers were injured in the crash. The driver of the second car was treated for minor injuries.

Nothing was reported stolen during the burglary.

The men were described as being in their 20s and wearing casual clothing.

Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with any information about a silver Audi A3, registration number 05KK3708, to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
