Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council is challenging schools and youth groups to make a Christmas tree entirely from recycled materials.

A spokesperson said: “Get artistic with any type of recycled materials. Not only will you be creating a little seasonal sparkle . . . you will also be helping the environment by preventing waste going to landfill.

“Make your tree by Friday 18 December and email a photo of your finished festive masterpiece to ts@armaghbanbridgecraigavon.gov.uk.”

The council will feature some of its favourite designs on its Facebook and Twitter pages.

The challenge is open to any school or youth group in the ABC council area.

The tree must be able to stand up without support and should be constructed entirely from recycled materials.
