A new synthetic floodlit sports pitch will be officially opened at Rathfriland High School on Monday, December 2.
Banbridge District Council in partnership with the Southern Education and Library Board will be unveiling the new pitch.
The pitch will be open to the community from Monday to Friday from 6pm–10pm, Saturday 9am–5pm and during the school holiday periods.
Banbridge District Council Head of Leisure, Ben Corr, said, “This will be the third dual use sports facility the Council and the Education Board have developed in the district and it will provide much needed sports facilities in the rural Rathfriland area.
“The synthetic floodlit pitch, which is to a FIFA 1 Star standard, will be suitable for football matches and training, GAA training and rugby training.”
Local clubs are being offered the opportunity to try the new state-of-the-art sports pitch at no cost for up to one hour between Monday, November 25, and Saturday, November 30 (subject to completion).
Any sports club or organisation who would like to ‘test drive’ the new pitch should contact Victor Willis on T:4062 0215 or E:firstname.lastname@example.org
The pitch has received investment from Down Rural Area Partnership under Axes 3 and 4 of the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2007-2013
