‘Pitching’ the Gospel to fans

MONEYSLANE Football Club have scored an unusual sponsorship deal - with one of the local churches.

The club has expressed their gratitude to Rev Michael Davidson and Session of Drumgooland Presbyterian Church for their generosity in erecting a sponsor board at their new ground.

The deal came about when David Macauley, whose son attends the club’s youth coaching, decided to try and find a way of giving something back to Moneyslane.

“David was impressed with how we did things and so he decided to see if the church could lend us a bit of backing,” club stalwart Lenny Blakely explained.

“We do a lot of work in the community through the club and the church recognised that. We were delighted when the opportunity came up to do something that will benefit both parties.

“As well as having the sign permanently erected in the ground they will also be able to use our notice board to promote any events they have coming up.”

The church came up with a very innovative and eye catching sponsor Board which reads ‘Man United with God’ and ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ and Hebrews Chapter 13 & Verse 5, which, for the record, is ‘For Jesus hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.’

A statement on the club’s Facebook page said, “We in the Moneyslane family are delighted with the pastoral work that Drumgooland Presbyterian Church undertakes in Moneyslane in spreading the vitally important Gospel message of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
