BANBRIDGE Macmillan Cancer Support presented £36,250 last Thursday night at their annual AGM, to the Julie Campbell Fundraising Manager.
The group raised the funds through holding several events throughout the year such as the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and supporting other people at their fundraising events.
This huge sum of money will go towards helping people living with cancer in the wider Banbridge area. The AGM was a very special evening for members of the fundraising group as Kenny McCahon stepped down from the role of chairman after five years although he will remain a volunteer with the group.
Paying tribute to Kenny’s role Fundraising Manager Julie Campbell said, “Kenny is a long standing and widely respected Macmillan Cancer Support supporter.
“His dedication to his role of chairman has been exemplary. Kenny always leads the way, lends a hand and comes to the assistance of people who undertake fundraising for this worthy and needy cause.
“He has proudly represented Macmillan in the wider Banbridge area since joining the committee in 2006 and the group has raised £204,650 in this time.
“It would be hard to find a more dedicated, passionate, and enthusiast fundraiser”
Julie commented “We are delighted that Kenny is remaining a committed member of the local committee and also extremely excited to welcome Norah Beare into her new role as Chairperson.
