Staff job threat at local housing office

MORE staff could lose their jobs at the Housing Executive in Banbridge in an attempt to work on a reduced budget.

The Chief Executive of the organisation, John McPeake said he could not guarantee that there wouldn’t be further cuts to staff as they “consider how to restructure the services”.

The Executive currently have an office in Bridge Street but the body is looking into merging some of the functions currently carried out by the Armagh, Craigavon and Banbridge offices.

In a letter to council Chief Executive Liam Hannaway Mr McPeake said, “We are more than conscious of the need to provide a locally responsive service and we will spare no effort to maintain this.”
