TWO Banbridge students have won their respective competitions in the Southern Regional College’s recent Inter-Campus Skillbuild Contest.

First prize in the Cabinet Making section went to Norbert Papp from Banbridge, while Ballyward student Gary Doyle picked up the top prize for ‘Plumbing Pipework’.

Norbert studies Carpentry and Joinery in SRC’s Portadown campus, while Gary is a student in Plumbing at the Armagh college.

The Inter-Campus competition, held in Portadown, was the first stage of the renowned Skillbuild Competition and drew together students from the various SRC campuses.

Skillbuild is the largest multi-trade competition in the UK for young students and apprentices, covering crafts including carpentry, joinery, bricklaying and plastering.

A total of 29 skills competitions took place on the day, with industry experts judging the work and skills of all the students taking part.
