ULSTER Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson and Banbridge Councillors Joan Baird, Liz Ingram and John Hanna have congratulated Scarva In Bloom members who recently won a prestigious Silver Gilt award in the Small Village category of the Royal Horticultural Society’s ‘Britain in Bloom’ competition.

The local politicians also congratulated Leonard Anderson who picked up a coveted Community Champion award at the UK Finals 2012 which were announced at the weekend in St Peter Port, Guernsey.

Commenting Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson said, “These are yet again fantastic achievements for Scarva.

“They stand as a testament to the hard work of the committee members and also the close-knit community spirit which exists within the community.

“I visited Scarva last week alongside the Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and the pride which local people have in the appearance of their village was clear for all to see.

“That sense of pride will be further enhanced by receiving further prestigious titles to add to their growing collection and I again commend all those involved for their hard work and effort.”
