PUBLIC FORUM ON THE FUTURE OF POLICING IN RATHFRILAND
ON Thursday, Banbridge District Policing Partnership will be holding a public forum for discussion themed around the delivery of an effective policing service in the Rathfriland area.
The venue is the main hall at the community centre on John Street, Rathfriland, and the forum starts at 7.30pm with light refreshments from 7.15pm.
The forum will be attended by the PSNI Banbridge/Armagh Area Commander, Chief Inspector Ken Mawhinney, who will give an overview of the PSNI Estates Strategy review, a review of the stations in the Banbridge district and some of the options for the future delivery of an effective police service in the Rathfriland area.
The meeting will then be open for those attending to give their views, raise any issues and suggest other alternatives for policing in the Rathfriland area.
In facilitating this community consultation event which forms part of the PSNI community consultation process, Banbridge DPP is complying with its statutory remit and core functions to consult the community on local policing and crime issues, and to act as a forum for discussion for the local community about policing and crime issues.
As required by the NI Policing Board, Banbridge DPP members will discuss and provide their views on the Area Commander's proposals when the PSNI community consultation process is completed, probably in early January 2009. Any views about the future delivery of an effective policing service in the Rathfriland area which may be expressed by individuals are done so in their capacity as local councillors, local residents, members of the public, etc and do not reflect the considered view of Banbridge DPP.
For further information on this event, contact the Banbridge DPP Manager on 028 4066 0609.
