Pram Race set to be one of the Fair Day attractions

IT’S all systems go for this year’s much awaited Pram Race which is being held during the Fair Day in Rathfriland on Saturday, September 22.

Organisers are taking entries for the race which is hoped will be a real crowd puller.

The race will take place in the Square at around 7pm and teams of four are urged to register soon to secure a place.

Kathy Wilson of Rathfriland Regeneration Group said, “We already have quite a few entries but can take a few more teams. Everyone is on the hunt for old prams which they are planning on painting and customising. Old Silver Cross prams are hot in demand though some teams are telling us the more modern big swivel type wheels are better for corners and speed!”

Aaron Megaw, one of the young people designing the race route said, “It will be a bit of craic on the night and we are hoping for a few spills and thrills to make it more interesting. I would advise teams to think about corners and sharp turns. There will be a few surprises thrown in too.”

Teams of four are required with one adult baby staying in the pram and three different pushers. All teams are encouraged to dress up and there will be a prize for the winners.

To enter a team ring Kathy on 07712 671 986.
