New Bridge Sixth Form pupils do their bit for Buddy Bear

SIXTH Form students at New Bridge Integrated College, Kristiane Cooke and Rebekah Gilpin, co-ordinated the very successful ‘ Fall Fete’ held in the College recently.

The initial aim of the ‘Fall Fete was to raise money for charities and school funds but as the evening progressed it was evident that it achieved so much more.

Staff and their children together with the students enjoyed an evening of fun and games and chat with the local community.

Over £500 was raised and representatives from the nominated charities Buddy bear trust and the Northern Ireland chest heart and stroke foundation visited the College on Monday December 17 to receive their cheques.

The Buddy Bear trust is a school in Dungannon with Specifically designed education programmes essential for children suffering from cerebral palsy and other motor disorders.

The charity is especially personal to New-Bridge as Sixth Form student Tammy Reid’s cousin Jack is a pupil at the school. Jack visited the College with his parents and the Patron of the Charity Mr Brendan McConville to be presented with a cheque for £200.

Mr James Doyle, ICT Technician at the College and World Hand Ball Champion is an avid fundraiser and has raised money for a variety of charities over the years. In particular, James has raised money for Trocaire each year by fasting on Christmas Day.

James works closely with the Sixth Form Students and they were so impressed with his latest fundraising venture to raise awareness for the Chest Heart and Stroke Foundation that they wanted to help. James received a cheque for £200 on behalf of the Chest Heart and Stroke Foundation.

The Sixth Form students would like to thank the local community and the school for their support of this event, all those who brought crafts to sell and those who donated gifts for the raffle.
