As they celebrate their 70th anniversary, local Ulster Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson hosted the members of the Annaclone and Magherally Young Farmers Club at Stormont.
Commenting following the visit Mrs Dobson said: “Its always great to get the opportunity to help and support young farmers, both male and female. who are the future of our local farming industry.
“I was delighted to get the opportunity to host such enthusiastic young people at Stormont and to get the chance to chat to them about all things farming.
“Following their visit I have raised a number of important issues which we discussed at the Agriculture Committee and also directly with the Minister - these includes the number of places available for young people wanting to study farming locally.
“We also discussed the worry that all too often government strategies, including the important ‘Going for Growth’ strategy, do not seek the valuable views and input of young farmers - I got the opportunity to put this point directly to the chairman at Stormont this week and received an assurance of greater consideration of the views of young people in the future.
“I am delighted to see a Young Farmers Club which is thriving and wish everyone at the club well as they continue to celebrate their important anniversary.”
