A Banbridge woman who mistakenly thought she was covered by her own insurance policy to drive her friend’s car, has appeared before the local court.
Lauren Hutchinson, a student, from Brookfield Meadows was fined £300 and awarded six penalty points.
She was also ordered to pay an offender’s levy of £15.
She was spoken to by police on 30 June when driving a Volkswagen Bora at Commercial Road car park, Banbridge.
Officers quickly discovered that she had insurance for her own car but it didn’t cover her to drive the Bora.
Her solicitor Mr Downey said this was a “genuine mistake” and there was no malice involved.
