The Belmont Hotel was host to the County Down Section of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Northern Ireland’s monthly meeting when the new President was installed.

Lorraine Ronaldson was installed at the monthly branch meeting held on Wednesday March 19. Lorraine succeeds the late William McFadden MBE who served the section and the community for many years and was twice elected as Chairman of Banbridge District Council (1995-1996 and 1999-2000).

Mervyn Herron, the section secretary, conducted the installation meeting and welcomed the members and special guests that included Councillor Mark Baxter (Mayor of Craigavon Borough Council), Councillor Olive Mercer (Chairman of Banbridge District Council), George Ussher (President of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association) and Ray Hall (Chairman of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association Northern
Ireland).

William Connolly, the section chairman, presented the chain of office to Lorraine, who has been selected by the members of the County Down Section to guide its affairs during the coming year and has been entrusted with the important responsibility that will help shape the section’s future.

During the special meeting, gifts were presented to William Connolly (Chairman) and his wife Elizabeth to mark William’s 25 years of exemplary service to the RSPBANI County Down Section.

Following the formal proceedings, refreshments were served providing the opportunity for members and guests to meet and chat with the new President.
