One thousand pounds was raised by Banbridge Seventh-day Adventist Church in their ‘Big Community Breakfast’ for Adventist Development and Relief Agency Philippines Disaster.
The event is held nearly every month usually on a Sunday but the date may vary.
December 1 was extra special because Dr Chidi Ngwaba, Mens Ministries, GP and Health Adviser provided lots of sensible health advice and practical tips for relieving diseases.
Along with him was award-winning vegan chef and personal cook Ben Asamani who produced the Vegan Healthy Menu. Ben also has the 222 Veggie Vegan Restaurant in London’s West End.
There was a very good attendance of local and visiting church members and many visitors from the community, including representatives of the Filipino Adventist community also attended, and one of them spoke about the trials of their homeland.
A spokesperson from the local church said: “We in Banbridge Church also view this as preparation for the Cities of Hope Project in 2014, when our home grown Pastor David McKibben will present a series of Sermons in the North of Ireland in March on Salvation by grace through faith in Jesus alone; and also Pastor Mark Finley during May in the Dublin area which is our City of Hope.
“We also trust in our Commander in Chief Jesus Christ, by His spirit, to also encourage as many people as possible to attend our church in 2014 to hear the Everlasting Gospel of the Three Angels’ Message.”
