HOPELESSLY devoted ‘Grease’ fans can say a fond farewell to the end of the summer nights by coming along to a ‘wop bam boom’ big screen showing of the 1978 smash hit movie Grease in Solitude Park, Banbridge on Friday September 28 from 8pm until 10pm.
All wannabe T-Birds and Pink Ladies throughout the district can get decked out in their finest ‘Grease’ gear, donning their denim and leather or if you’re a fan of 50’s fashion – hoke out your poodle skirt and bobby socks.
The whole family can go together and have a rocking and rolling good time under a blue moon, singing along to feel-good hits such as such as Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin, We Go Together and You’re The One That I Want.
Grease is a musical about Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson who fall in love during the summer break. When they go back to school, they are reunited at Rydell High. But things aren’t quite the same between the pair when they clash at Rydell’s first pep rally. They try to be like each other so they can be together. But will love conquer all?
This is a unique opportunity for people of a certain age, who have already seen this all-time great movie, to take a trip down memory lane and relive the adolescent angst, teenage pranks, fast cars and summer loving at Rydell High.
Children who like the more modern High School Musical will be enthralled by the original motion picture that is still considered to be the most successful movie musical ever created. As well as being nominated for an Oscar, ‘Grease’ picked up three Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture, Best Actor (John Travolta) and Actress (Olivia Newton-John).
Domino’s Pizza will have a stall at the event serving up some delicious piping-hot pizza and for added convenience you can pre-order your pizza on 4066 0770. All orders will be delivered directly to the park. Other refreshments such as popcorn, sweets and drinks will be on sale at the event. Don’t forget to bring along a comfy cushion too.
This free outdoor cinema event has been organised by Banbridge District Council. For further information, contact the Council’s Leisure and Development Department on 4066 0605.
