Getting all geared up for annual threshing and vintage rally

Launching this years Ballyward Threshing and Vintage Rally are Ivan Fee, Robert Stevenson, Tommy Martin, Andrew Stevenson and The Rector Rev Gerald Macartney. Once again it's time for Ballyward Threshing and Vintage Rally, organised by Drumgooland Parish Church. The event takes place in the field just off the main Banbridge/Castlewellen road at Moneyslane and is on Saturday 3rd October starting at 11:00am.As usual we are expecting a large turnout of vintage and classic vehicles of all types, tractors, cars, vans ,lorries, motor bikes, stationary engines and farm machinery. This is the 3rd year the John Quinn trophy will be awarded to the best tractor restoration. B Company is returning with another selection of ex-military vehicles and will be displayed along the Refreshment Tent. The thresher and stationary baler will be in action if the corn is cut in time, if not then the binder may well be in use. Last year the Trophy for the tractor pull went over sea, but it will return for another keenly fought competi

It’s time once again for Ballyward Threshing and Vintage Rally, organised by Drumgooland Parish Church.

Competitors must register before pulling, follow instructions from the marshals and act in a safe manner.Ist pull will be at 12.pm Lunch from 1 to 2pm, two pulls in afternoon.

It is hoped that a Dynameter will be available this device can measure tractor horsepower at the pto shaft for a cost of £20.00.

The Dog Show returns and has been expanded to have eight classes: Medium/large breed, Waggiest tail, Small breed, Best trick, Most obedient,Fancy dress, Best groomed and The judge’s choice. All dogs are their owner’s responsibility and must be on a lead at all times. Registration from 1.00 show starts at 2.00pm. Thanks to the generous sponsor Ivan Fee Mechanical Services.

A new stall this year will be organised by Ballyward Guides and will be selling a mouth-watering selection of homemade buns and cakes.

On the subject of food the Burger bar will be in full production, with old favourites like the Thresher Burger being joined by several new creations.

Next door the Refreshment Tent will have a full range of homemade sandwiches, pastry, soup etc, with plenty of room to sit and chat.
