“SONGS in the Park”, a local community initiative led by Banbridge Clergy Fellowship, makes a welcome return to Solitude Park on Sunday, June 2, at 3pm thanks to funding secured from Banbridge District Council’s Good Relations Programme.
The event will feature Banbridge Ladies Choir, with soloists Aoife Hutchinson and Lynn Laverty, and Ivan Black with Banbridge Concert Orchestra. Musical director for the afternoon will be Norman Brown.
This free event is open to everyone who wishes to enjoy an afternoon of popular music & hymns. Seating will be available on a first come basis and cannot be reserved in advance. Guests attending this free event will be asked to make a donation to the Council Chairman’s nominated charity, the Mandeville Unit at Craigavon Area Hospital.
To make this year’s event extra special the council wishes to boost community spirit further by encouraging people to bring a picnic to the park and enjoy a ‘Big Lunch’!
The Big Lunch is an innovative idea from the environmental Eden Project organization.
Since the campaign started in 2009, thousands of Big Lunches have taken place across the UK. The aim is to get as many people as possible to have lunch with their neighbours and people within their local area once a year in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. So feel free to bring a picnic to enjoy during the afternoon performance.
