A London woman who was found lying in the back seat of a car parked in Banbridge was banned from driving for 12 months last Thursday at the local magistrates’ court.

Theresa Clarke (41), Bloemfontein Avenue, London, was also fined £300 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that on December 19 last year at The Grange, Newry Road, Banbridge, a car was parked on the footpath.

Police found the defendant lying on the rear seat and there was a smell of alcohol on her breath. She said she had been visiting her partner’s mother and after an argument with her partner she drove off. A breath test gave a reading of 66. Her solicitor said she had been visiting in Banbridge and she had an argument.

She added that Clarke only drove a matter of 300 yards when she realised the error of her ways. She parked and got into the back seat to stay there for the night.
