A 50-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a crash near Loughbrickland this morning resulted in a woman being taken to hospital.

Police have appealed for information after a woman in her 20s was injured when her car collided with a lorry at the Annaghbane Road junction just before 8.55am.

The man is said to be helping police with their enquiries.

The woman, who sustained facial and head injuries, was trapped in the car and received treatment at the scene for 30 minutes before being transferred to Diasy Hill Hospital. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The road remains closed and traffic is being diverted via Grovehill Road into Newry.

Police have appealed for information from anyone who was travelling on the A1 south of Loughbrickland near the Annaghbane Road junction area at the time. Call police on 0845 600 8000.
