“Wednesday is the busiest day at Westminster and this attack has clearly been carefully planned for maximum impact.

“My thoughts are with those who have been injured.”

A police officer has been stabbed in the Houses of Parliament and the alleged assailant was shot by police.

It is also being reported that several people were “mowed down” by a vehicle on Westminster Bridge.
