Council Chairman’s sympathies to family

THE Chairman of Banbridge District Council has expressed his sympathies to the family of David Black.

Mr Black, a prison officer, was shot dead on his way to work at Maghaberry Prison.

Mr McCrum said, “I would like to take this opportunity to extend my deepest sympathy to the family of Mr David Black especially his wife and two children at this very difficult time.

“The community is stunned at what happened on Thursday morning and understand that this gentleman was a first class officer for almost 30 years and would have gone the extra mile to help any prisoner in his care.

“I would ask anyone that has any information whatsoever to contact the PSNI in order that the perpetrators are brought to justice.”
