An 18 year old Banbridge man has appeared in court facing a number of charges including assault on police.

Scott Foster from Leamount Park is further charged with criminal damage which the court heard was damage to four windows belonging to the Housing Executive.

He is also charged with attempted criminal damage involving a door and window of a police car.

A pre-sentence report was ordered and Foster was told to return for sentencing on 6 November.

The court heard how the incident occurred on 5 January when police received a report to say Foster was wrecking his home at Leamount Park.

Officers saw that windows were broken and Foster was shouting and screaming from inside the property.

When police officers entered the property they were met by a bare chested Foster who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

When officers attempted to arrest him, Foster became very aggressive with his fists clenched. He had to be restrained several times and he continually punched and kicked out at officers during the journey to the police station.

Foster was warned by Judge Copeland that he must co-operate with Probation Service or face the possibililty of finding himself behins bars awaiting sentencing.
