The new Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Council has moved to clarify its smoking policy regarding vaporisers and e-cigarettes.

The council has banned the use of devices that replicate smoking behavior such as ‘electronic cigarettes’ on its premises or in vehicles as, it says, they may be mistaken for actual smoking and may encourage others to believe smoking is permitted.

This, says the council, may result in complaints and cause difficulty in the application of the smoking policy. The council has advised those using such products to do so away from smokers to avoid exposure to second hand smoke.
