A three-pound burger with one pound of trimmings, seven hot wings, 15 scoops of ice-cream and two pints of milkshake are on the menu for a much anticipated charity challenge in Dromore this weekend.

The Dromore Community Charity Events Committee is presenting a local Man v Food challenge in Cull’s Bar on Saturday, one of two upcoming fundraisers in aid of this year’s chosen causes.

The competitors have been chosen and stand ready to tuck in to the three separate challenges, while the public are advised the event is open to spectators, free of charge.

The first challenge is sponsored by Maguire’s takeaway, who will be rustling up a monster burger similar to the one pictured on our front page.

The aim of the game will be to devour the burger and its trimmings, a whopping four pounds of food, within the 45 minutes allotted.

Sponsored by local chef Neil Greer, challenge two involves the wings with a sting, seven in all, which must be completed in 15 minutes.

And finally . . . the Ice Cream and Milkshake Challenge allows 45 minutes to down the dessert, scoop by scoop and pint by pint; the challenge is sponsored by Graham’s Newsagents.

A collection and raffle will also be held on the night.

The Man v Food challenge will take place in Cull’s on Saturday (November 23).

A week later, on November 30, the DCCEC will follow up with a Hypnotist Comedy Roadshow on the Hill, Dromore.

Tickets for the event, which will feature a late bar and disco, are on sale now and can be purchased from Peter Branker (074 2905 3640) at a cost of £8 each.

The show itself is being performed by Gareth Fulton.

All money raised by the events will be going to Banbridge Special Olympics and Children’s Heartbeat Trust.

“We will be running another few events in relation to raising funds for both these charities in the new year,” said Peter.
