Can you give Willow the three-legged hound dog, or any of her cute pups a home?

Willow, a black and tan dog is recovering well at the Doghouse Sanctuary in Banbridge, after having her front leg amputated as well as just recently giving birth to ten beautiful pups who are just seven weeks old.

Willow, who was named after a local veterinary surgery in Portadown where she was found just before Christmas with a serious leg injury in what has been described as an act of cruelty.

The then heavily pregnant dog was taken to a veterinary surgery where she underwent emergency care.

So serious was the leg injury, that Willow had to have her leg amputated but it was not before she gave birth to ten cuddly pups.

Already, there has been much interest in Willow’s pups - three of which have already been reserved by keen dog lovers. It will be some weeks before Willow too is ready to leave the sanctuary.

Owners of the Doghouse Sanctuary have organised a food appeal at Jollyes pet store at the Castlewellan Road on Saturday.

“Willow is adjusting well and all the pups are doing great,” said a spokesperson for the sanctuary. “Seven pups need to be rehomed but Willow has been through a lot but is recovering well.

“She had her pups first and then had to be well enough before she had her leg amputated. Her recovery is a slow process and is jus not fit enough to leave just yet. It will be some weeks before she will be allowed out.”
