BANBRIDGE patients are set to benefit from the upgrade work currently being carried out at Lurgan Hospital according to a DUP delegation which toured the facility recently.
Speaking after the tour with senior health trust personnel, the DUP delegation which comprised MP David Simpson, MLA Stephen Moutray and Councillor Carla Lockhart, praised the new extension which includes a bed lift, staircase, entrance lobby and reception area.
In a group statement, the trio said, “We previously toured the first stage of works at Lurgan Hospital that brought about improvements for patients and staff alike in terms of working environment, increased single beds, infection control and canteen facilities,
“This phase will complement the internal ward refurbishment and ground floor cafe which were recently completed. It will enhance access to and within the hospital, providing a safer and more comfortable environment.”
Craigavon and Banbridge who need care and support, but for whom an acute hospital setting is no longer appropriate.
“Following on previous improvements to and investment in both Craigavon Hospital and the recently announced confirmation of the new Health Village for Banbridge, this latest phase in the Lurgan Hospital site works represents a very public declaration of support for Lurgan Hospital and commitment to its long-term future which is something that will be welcomed by the entire community in Upper Bann.”
