Youth was fighting in the street

A young man who was involved in a street fight was given a suspended prison sentence last Thursday at Banbridge Magistrates Court.

Gerard Patrick Dugan (19), Upper Dunmurry Lane, Belfast, admitted disorderly behaviour on June 3 last year.

The court heard that at 1am police were called to a disturbance at Reilly Street. They saw two youths, both of whom were bare chested, exchanging blows.

A solicitor representing Dugan said his client had no recollection of the incident because he was drunk at the time. He added that the defendant had serious medical problems.

Deputy District Judge Laura Ievers sentenced Dugan to two months in custody but suspended the sentence for 12 months.
