Man's long list of driving, theft and assault charges

A 34-year-old man has been banned from the roads for three years after admitting a series of road traffic offences.

Stephen Ronald Bordessa appeared last Thursday in the dock at Banbridge Magistrates Court.

For the series of motoring offences against him his address was listed on the summonses as Linen Fields, Banbridge.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, carried out the sentencing. For driving with excess alcohol in his breath on June 22 this year at Loughbrickland Road, Banbridge, Bordessa was fined £100, ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy and banned for one year.

A £100 fine and a concurrent one year ban were imposed for not having insurance on the same date.

Bordessa pleaded guilty to three theft offences. He stole a bottle of Buckfast, valued at £4.49, on June 28, a bottle of Buckfast and a packet of sausages, worth £5.59, and a bottle of Buckfast and Lynx, valued at £6.59, on June 30, all from Supervalu, Banbridge.

For each offence he was fined £100 and he was also ordered to pay £16.77 compensation.

While driving a Jaguar on the Banbridge Road, Dromore, Bordessa did not have any insurance. For this offence he was disqualified from driving for three years.

The defendant also committed offences on June 10 this year.

He was fined £50 and banned for three years for not having insurance, fined £25 for not having a vehicle test certificate and £10 for failing to produce his driving licence to police in the specified time.

Bordessa was caught driving a people carrier at Banbridge Road, Dromore, on June 28 without having insurance. He was banned for three years and fined £10 for not having a vehicle test certificate on the same date.

Bordessa was also sentenced for offences which took place on July 24 at Primrose Gardens in Banbridge.

He admitted assaulting a constable, resisting a constable and disorderly behaviour as well as driving without insurance, criminal damage to a police car and driving with excess alcohol in breath.

For these charges he was sentenced to 100 hours community service, disqualified from driving for three years, fined a total of £175 and ordered to pay an offender’s levy.

Bordessa also admitted that between June 15 and July 2 this year he pursued a course of conduct which amounted to harassment.

Judge Copeland adjourned sentencing until November 17 .
