The cause of a fire at a shoe shop store room in Bridge Street at the weekend, is still under investigation although police have said that it is not being treated as suspicious.
The fire began at around 11.20pm on Sunday and two appliances from Banbridge and two from Dromore Fire Station arrived at the scene.
When fire crews arrived, the fire was well alight at the time in the storeroom area. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used two hosereel jets to deal with the fire.
Both adjoining properties were heavily smoke logged and were ventilated.
The incident was dealt with at 12.37am.
Councillor Junior McCrum said that he was glad that noone was injured.
“It seems that it and other premises were badly smoke damaged,” he said. “We must support the businesses who have been affected by this.”
