Pensioner taken to hospital after robbery

A MAN in his 70s has been taken to hospital after he was robbed in Antrim.

The man had been sitting in his car in the Stiles way area on Tuesday night when he was approached by two males.

They told him he had an oil leak and then he got out of the car to check, one of the males struck him on the head and stole a sum of cash.

The man needed hospital treatment for his injury, which is not believed to be life threatening.

The two males are believed to have been in their 20s but had scarves over their faces and wore dark clothing.

The robbery occury just before 8pm and police are appealing for anyone with any information to contact Antrim Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
