Sorrow and disbelief at Issac’s passing

PROFOUND sorrow and a sense of disbelief was felt throughout the Loughbrickland and Banbridge district and indeed much further afield when it was learned of the sudden passing of Mr. Isaac Alexander Moorhead which occurred at his home 6 Maple Drive, Loughbrickland on Wednesday January 11.
Isaac, who was a very familiar person in the district, was the dearly loved husband of Violet. He was born and brought up in Mullafernaghan on May 12, 1935 and married Miss Violet McCallister on September 24 1966. They had three children Brian, Stephanie and Linda who passed away when she was only two years old some 39 years ago.
A staunch loyalist, he was a builder by trade but was greatly interested in the playing of lambeg drums. He was President of the Drumming Federation and won many trophies in his exploits. He was a Past Master of Banbridge Bible and Crown Defenders L.O.L. No 28 and Chinauley R.B.P 994.
Isaac was a member of the Orange Order for over 60 years and was also a foundation member of Donaghmore Apprentice Boys. He was a member of Aghaderg Parish Church and was Sexton of the Church for over 40 years but his main interest was centered around his wife and family and it is there that his passing will be mostly felt.
He is survived by his wife Violet, son Brian, daughter Stephanie, daughter-in-law Caroline, son-in-law Brian; three grandchildren Rebekah, Jake and Matthew; five brothers David, Jim, Norman, Desmond and Mervyn. To these and all other relatives sincere sympathy has been extended.
The funeral took place from his home on Saturday January 14 for service in Aghaderg Parish Church at which his Lodge paid tribute to him as over 50 Orange Brethren preceded the hearse.
His minister the Rev. Peter Thornbury gave an inspiring address. The hymns ‘Lead us Heavenly Father Lead us’ and ‘What a Friend we have in Jesus’ were sung. Ann McCulla presided at the organ. The interment took place in the adjoining churchyard.
When the Orange Order paid their final salute at the graveside. Family flowers were placed on the grave and donations in lieu of flowers are being sent to William Bell and Co. Funeral Directors, 23 Kenlis Street, Banbridge, BT32 3LR for Banbridge Bible and Crown Defender L.O.L No 28.
William Bell and Co. had charge of the funeral arrangements.
